In a statement released by the South Australian government, the 2024-25 Digital Access and Inclusion funding round has officially opened, offering not-for-profit community organisations the chance to boost their digital capabilities. Part of the Grants SA initiative, this funding is aimed at ensuring South Australians “have access to and can use digital technologies with confidence to participate in an ever-increasing online world.”
The funding offers up to $20,000 for eligible not-for-profit community organisations and social enterprises to support digital projects. Whether it’s upgrading digital infrastructure (with equipment requests capped at $10,000) or expanding digital literacy programmes, this grant provides essential support for community-based digital inclusion efforts. The focus is on diversity and includes ethnic and Aboriginal-run community organisations. The funding can also be used for community education initiatives aimed at enhancing digital skills.
For the Greek community in South Australia, this presents a unique chance to improve digital access and education within their networks. Organisations could use the funding to help older community members navigate online services or develop digital literacy programmes for younger generations. Strengthening these capabilities will ensure that Greek community organisations enhance their capacities in today’s digital landscape.
The SA government’s statement emphasised that “expansion of existing digital literacy programs, including drop-in support services for community education,” is a key focus of this funding round. This aligns perfectly with the needs of many Greek community organisations, who are already working to bridge the digital divide for their members.
The grants are available to community organisations, Aboriginal community organisations, and certified Social Enterprises. However, with this funding, Greek community groups have a real opportunity to further invest in digital inclusion programmes that benefit their members and the wider South Australian community.
To assist potential applicants, an online information session will be held on Tuesday, 29 October 2024, from 11 am to 12 pm. Applications close at 3 pm on Tuesday, 19 November 2024.
This funding could provide a significant boost to the digital capacity of some Greek community organisations, enabling them to support their members more effectively in the digital world.
