PAOK, one of the most historic clubs in Greek football, has taken a significant step towards international growth by venturing beyond Greece’s borders and reaching the far shores of Australia.
This initiative, aimed at strengthening ties with the Greek diaspora and developing football in new markets, marks a new era for the Thessaloniki-based club.
Led by experienced PAOK Academy collaborators Kostas Lagonidis and Giorgos Gourtsas, a club delegation traveled here to share the club’s philosophy and expertise. This visit provided a unique opportunity to connect with the Greek community in Australia, develop partnerships with local organizations, and promote the sport to new talent.
During their stay in Australia, a rich program of events was organized. Training camps for children of all ages offered young talents the chance to experience the modern training methods implemented at PAOK academies. In parallel, an international coaches’ conference was organized, where Greek and Australian colleagues had the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences, contributing to the development of football on a global level.
The collaboration between PAOK and Football Victoria has opened new avenues for the development of football in Australia. The two sides agreed on a series of joint actions, such as the exchange of athletes and coaches, the organization of friendly matches, and the creation of joint development programs. Furthermore, the possibility of establishing PAOK academies in Australia is being seriously considered, which would be a significant milestone in the expansion of Greek football into new markets.
