George Kambosos Jr, the former lightweight world champion, has announced his highly anticipated return to Sydney after eight years. The Greek Australian boxer will make his debut in the 140-pound (63.5 kg) junior welterweight division on Saturday, March 22, at the Qudos Bank Arena.

“Mark the date—Saturday, March 22! I’m coming home to Sydney after eight years, bringing with me some world-title action,” Kambosos shared on social media, building excitement for his return.

According to The Ring, Kambosos will face Indonesia’s Daud Yordan in a 10-round junior welterweight bout. Yordan, a seasoned fighter with a record of 43 wins (31 by KO) and 4 losses, is on a five-fight winning streak, all by knockout or technical knockout. At 37 years old, Yordan is making a comeback, having fought only five times since his unanimous decision loss to Anthony Crolla for the WBA lightweight title in 2016.

Kambosos, nicknamed “Ferocious,” holds a professional record of 21-3 (10 KOs). Despite back-to-back losses to Devin Haney in Melbourne and a defeat to Vasyl Lomachenko in May 2024, Kambosos remains determined to reclaim his place among boxing’s elite.

The upcoming fight marks the first step in Kambosos’ journey to become a two-weight world champion. Last November, he secured a co-promotion deal with Matchroom Boxing, DiBella Entertainment, and his own Ferocious Promotions.

The March 22 event will be broadcast internationally on DAZN as the main event.
