The Greek Orthodox Community of Whittlesea (GOCW) Women’s Group has officially launched into 2025 with their first event, the Kopi of the Vasilopita.
The group marked their first event of the year with the traditional celebration, which also featured the blessing by Father George from the local parish Transfiguration of Our Lord.
The group was welcomed by their President, Helen Koukoulas, with the GOCW President Kris Pavlidis also extending her warmest wishes to them for a successful 2025, on behalf of the GOCW Board.
The event was attended by roughly 70 members, who expressed their excitement at the recommencement of its activities after an extended hiatus.
“These social support structures play a pivotal role in addressing social isolation and nurturing the mental wellbeing of women in our community,” Pavlidis said in an email reflecting on the event.
“Congratulations to the GOCW Women’s Group, one of the longest serving Groups, on their continued delivery.”
