The Greek Community of Melbourne schools hosted a most informative educational seminar for its Year 12 (VCE) students centred on the topic of migration.
Dr Antonis Piperoglou, Hellenic Senior Lecturer in Global Diasporas, Historical and Philosophical Studies at the University of Melbourne, served as keynote speaker for the event on Wednesday as he shared valuable knowledge and insights with the students.
Dr Piperoglou engaged with them through an interactive presentation, providing a wealth of resources to help students deeply understand the phenomenon of Greek migration to Australia, while encouraging critical thinking and personal reflection based on their own family histories.

In addition to the GCM students, pupils from Alphington Grammar School and St John’s College also took part in the seminar as part of a collaborative initiative aimed at strengthening student support networks.
“The gathering of three major schools here today at the Greek Community building is a significant moment for our community,” said Maria Bakalidou, Principal of the GCM Schools, in a media release.
“It builds bridges of cooperation, with the shared goal of supporting our students and promoting Greek language education.”
The seminar marks the beginning of numerous joint activities, excursions, and training sessions that have been co-organised to support students across all schools as they prepare for their VCE Greek exams.
