The Greek Australian Society (GAS) has announced the appointment of its new Mentoring Program Convenor for 2025, with GAS Vice-President and experienced mentor Bill Maloukis stepping into the role.

The news marks a new chapter for the society’s flagship initiative, which has become a cornerstone of professional development for young Greek-Australians across the country.

Maloukis, who is also the Managing Director of Construction Specialties Australia, brings to the position an extensive background in engineering, business leadership and industry mentoring.

“I’m honoured to step into the role of Convenor of the Greek Australian Society Mentoring Program,” Maloukis said.

“With a passion for mentoring and a background in engineering and leadership, I’m committed to building a program that supports young professionals in their careers, fosters community connection, and helps the next generation thrive within the Greek-Australian community.”

Maloukis whose appointment is seen as a strategic development for the GAS Mentoring Program, follows in the footsteps of George Psihoyios, GAS Co-Founder and inaugural President, who successfully led the program as its first dedicated Convenor over the past two years.

“In passing the proverbial torch to Bill Maloukis, I am confident that the Program stands in strong stead moving forward,” said Psihoyios.

“As someone who has served both as a GAS Mentor and Board Member, Bill is perfectly equipped to strengthen the Program in a way that stays consistent with GAS’s values and provides amazing value for the next generation of mentees.”

GAS President George Mpliokas also expressed his confidence in the new appointment.

“Bill has a tremendous energy for supporting young Greek-Australians in their professional careers, which is such a great example to follow and a real virtue to share,” Mpliokas added.

“I look forward to a high quality and purposeful GAS Mentoring Program this year with Bill as our Convenor.”

The GAS Mentoring Program is set to announce its 2025 mentor panel and application process throughout April and May, with returning mentors and a fresh intake of participants expected.

The Society also extended its thanks to the more than 500 members across Australia and abroad for their ongoing support of GAS’s mission to foster a modern, inclusive and democratic Greek-Australian community.
