The Modern Greek Teachers’ Association of Victoria (MGTAV) is set to host its Annual Educators’ Conference on Sunday, 4 May in a jam-packed event that will explore innovative, practical approaches to language education.
The event will be held from 10am-3pm at Lalor North Primary School, with this year’s theme being “Learning and Teaching Beyond the Textbook”.
The conference will feature a dynamic line-up of presenters and workshops designed for educators from early primary through to VCE.
Sessions will focus on areas like creative drama, rhythm in language learning, technology integration, and hands-on classroom strategies, ensuring there is something for every teaching level and interest.
Among the presenters and speakers are Katerina Poutachidou (drama teacher), Archie Argyropoulos (Primary Greek language teacher), and Perry Papageorgiou.
Papageorgiou will be the keynote speaker at the conference, with his talk discussing innovative teaching strategies that go beyond traditional textbooks, incorporating multimedia tools, hands-on activities, and interactive learning experiences.
Participants will discover practical ways to engage diverse learners, enhance retention, and foster creativity through digital resources, project-based learning, and kinaesthetic approaches.
In addition to the speakers, there will also be workshops run as led by Amy Collins, Irene Kodoudakis, and Scott Cordwell for the first one and Maria Sabo, Matt Absalom and Amanda Macdonald for the second.
The conference promises to be another great event that aids educators in pickup up new skills and ideas to take with them to the classroom.
