The two Double-headed eagles of Greek football are set for one final showdown this season as they both strive for third place (now that the top two has been confirmed), with Panathinaikos and Olympiacos also to face off in a game where the only thing on the line is pride.

PAOK hosts AEK at “Toumba” Stadium on Monday morning (AEST) in the sixth and final matchday of the Greek Super League’s play-offs, and both teams are looking for a winning finish as a consolation after failing to secure their targets.

Enosi is desperately seeking a win after a calamitous play-offs campaign that has seen them lose all five of their games and, in the process, fall out of the title race and the battle for second.

PAOK, meanwhile, has been competitive in the play-offs though fell short at the crucial moments.

Both teams are aware that the final thing they can salvage is third place which, should Olympiacos win the Cup, would mean that club enters the Europa League qualifying rounds.

As such, there is still something to gain even now when the league title and second spot have been wrapped up.

PAOK holds the advantage as they play at home and currently sit two points ahead of AEK, which means that only a win would help the Athenian outfit secure third.

Panathinaikos takes on Olympiacos at the Olympic Stadium in one of the lowest stakes clashes between the two bitter rivals, though that will in no way make either team want the win any less.

With second secured, the Greens now have the chance to rain on the champions’ parade at the last hurdle and defeat them for the first time this term.

The Piraeus giants have yet to be beaten by the “Trifylli” this season, a fact they would no doubt like to continue as they search for one final big scalp to close out a most successful 2024/25 campaign.

In the fifth-eighth play-offs, the four teams will play out the final two contests on Sunday morning as a formality after Aris confirmed fifth spot last matchday.

The Thessaloniki side hosts Asteras Tripolis, the only team that posed a serious threat to them, in a game that holds little significance beyond pride.

OFI travels away to play Atromitos and, while it will not change the ladder in any way, the game is still important for the Cretans as they look to get themselves in good shape for a huge Cup final against Olympiacos on 18 May.

Should OFI win, it would mean that they earn the ticket to the Europa League qualifying rounds and would mean that Aris would not be put into the qualifiers for the Conference League (which they currently expect to have earned).

Kallithea goes away to play Levadiakos in the relegation play-outs in a huge clash wherein the Athenian club needs maximum points.

The game will not be easy with the “blue-greens” at the top of the table in the play-outs, though Kallithea will have to do everything they can to secure a win and boost their hopes of survival.

Volos, the team directly above Kallithea in the final spot safe from relegation, will do their all to preserve the four-point gap that separates the two sides, though that means they will have to defeat Panetolikos away.

Lamia takes on Panserraikos in another game with little meaning given the Fthiotida side is guaranteed to be relegated and the Serres club is very likely to avoid relegation.
