Canterbury Bankstown FC has demonstrated their class with an impressive 2-0 victory over Northern Tigers in their NPL NSW Men’s League One clash at Jensen Park, sending an important statement to the rest of the competition.

The Berries defeated the Tigers in their Round 14 meeting last Saturday to make their opponents fall out of top spot.

The hosts struck once in each half with the first coming from Christian Torreli in the 13th minute.

Torreli played an integral part in the second goal as well, providing the assist to John Fotopoulos’ successful strike in the 70th minute.

Berries head coach Walter Savor heaped praise on his side for their strong display.

“It was a complete performance. The boys stuck to the game plan, worked for each other, and took their chances. Against the top side, this win shows what we’re capable of,” he said in a media release on the game.

The Berries now sit in sixth with 22 points, just six points off the now second-placed Tigers, bringing them well in range of the top spots.
