A heartfelt Mother’s Day celebration hosted by Radio Symban in Sydney paid tribute to the enduring love and sacrifice of mothers. Held at the Greek Orthodox Community NNO Hall, organisers described the event as “dedicated to love, gratitude and emotion, it honoured the figure of the Mother who, as it was said, ‘lulls a baby to sleep in her arms, gives her life for her child, and climbs with him on Golgotha’.”
The organisers hailed the event as a success, noting that it “highlighted the sacredness of the role of the mother in every aspect of life”.

Proceeds from the charity event were directed to support a single mother raising five children. Renowned chef Aris Hadjigeorgiou and his team generously contributed by preparing unique dishes for attendees.
Entertainment was provided by Sophia Ventouri’s traditional dance school, with children performing in honour of their mothers, many of whom were present to share in the celebration.
Radio Symban, run by Angelos and Elena Matsouka, has been a staple in the Greek Australian community for nearly 30 years. In a statement, they affirmed their mission: “continues to honour traditions, unite the community and serve the people.”
