Ange Postecoglou’s side has made it three-from-three after defeating Tajikistan 3-0 in that country’s capital Dushanbe early Thursday morning.

The reigning Asian Champions pressed throughout the game, applying a lot of pressure on Tajikistan’s defensive line, which managed to hold the Australians out for almost an hour.

It was former Melbourne Victory captain Mark Milligan who found the back of the net in the 57th minute, opening a flurry of goals courtesy of a Tim Cahill double in the 73rd and 91st, landing the Socceroos victory against the world’s 153rd ranked side.

Ange Postecoglou was pleased with the result, in light of his side’s inexperience on the artificial turf presented by the locals.

“We were floating stuff in instead of hitting them with purpose and pace, but we have persevered and I think our last two goals in particular were really good team goals,” he said.

“The players were really disciplined – that’s what I said to them at half time. I was in no doubt the last half hour would be ours.

“Once we get one, we get at least a couple more. In the end we probably should have had four or five.”

The 3-0 win comes after the Socceroos defeated Bangladesh 5-0 in Perth last week.
