Maria Sakkari’s Wimbledon campaign is over, losing to 2022 champion Elena Rybakina in straight-sets 6-3, 6-1.
In the first set of the one-hour match, the Greek narrowed the score to 3-4 but Rybakina was able to regain control and close out the set 6-3.
Sakkari started the second set with a break, but Rybakina quickly took command, dominating the remainder of the match and winning the set 6-1
Rybakina is now 5-1 against Sakkari, whose ranking has slipped to No. 77, and has won their last four matches.
