The Australian Hellenic Memorial Foundation Committee has announced that this year’s 2025 School Competition is open for all schools in Victoria where the Greek language is taught.
In its 16th consecutive year, the competition is for students to learn the events and history of Greece during World War II and the reason why the Memorial was built – to honour the service men and women that served and died in Greece.
Open to students from Grade One to Year 12, students can write a story of the war, write a poem, draw a picture of soldiers, or write an essay, anything that relates to the Greek Campaign and the ANZACs in Greece 1940-41.
Cash prizes will be given to all winners, and all students that take part in the competition will receive a badge of the Memorial, and a certificate of participation.
The competition closes on 19 September, with the presentation taking place at the Australian Hellenic Memorial on Saturday 18 October at 11am.
