Canterbury Bankstown FC’s four-game unbeaten streak came to a halt after a narrow 0-1 home defeat to league leaders UNSW.

The Berries fell to the promotion-chasing club despite a valiant effort at their home of Jensen Park last Saturday (9 August), remaining in 11th place on 31 points with their position in the Football NSW State League One competition secure for another year.

The hosts produced numerous chances throughout the contest, giving the visitors a real challenge and making them work for the three points.

Ultimately, the Berries were unable to convert their opportunities which left the door ajar for the travellers to take hold of the game.

They eventually broke through in the 69th minute when wing back Timothy Wohlfiel went driving down the right flank and sent in a cross to Jack Fulton, who brought the ball down and put it in the net.

Canterbury Bankstown will be looking to give their supporters something to cheer in the coming final three rounds of the season as they aim for a strong finish to the campaign.
