South Australian Treasurer Tom Koutsantonis was cleared of maladministration by SA’s Independent Commissioner Against Corruption (ICAC) in the state government sale of land at Gillman to Adelaide Capital Partners (ACP) in 2013.
He will keep his job as a result. He was, however, chastised by Commissioner Bruce Lander for using foul language in front of public servants.
Mr Koutsantonis denied allegations under oath that he directed “particularly vile and intimidating language” towards a senior public servant.
Witnesses claimed he used particularly offensive language during meetings with Urban Renewal Authority staff, known as Renewal SA, ahead of the sale in 2013.
Several other witnesses gave evidence in the Treasurer’s favour.
Premier Jay Weatherill insists his government had one pure motive – jobs – in pursuing an exclusive deal for the Gillman site.
