A new multi-purpose community centre is being built in the village square of Pikerni, Arcadia, under the shadow of the historic castle once restored by benefactor Andreas Andrianopoulos.

The project, announced by the Municipal Community of Pikerni, is being realised thanks to the generous donation of the Melbourne-based businessman, who has never forgotten his roots despite a lifetime abroad.

The foundation event was attended by Tripoli Mayor Kostas Tzioumis, who played a key role in bringing the project to fruition, alongside many locals and friends of the village.

Andreas Andrianopoulos was born in Pikerni and migrated to Melbourne in 1955. Through hard work and determination, he built a business empire in the fuel industry.

Beyond his entrepreneurial success, he has been a long-time supporter of the Greek diaspora, culture, the Church, and the wider Australian community. His donations to universities, charitable organisations, and cancer research have left a lasting legacy.

In recognition of his decades-long contribution, former Governor of Victoria Linda Dessau AC CVO awarded him a royal honour in 2023 at Government House, Melbourne, acknowledging his invaluable service to society.
