Alexandar Jeremejeff has given Panathinaikos their first taste of success in the league this season, popping up with a goal in the dying embers of their game with Panetolikos to give the Greens something to cheer for the first time in their league campaign.
The “Trifylli” fought from behind to defeat the Canaries 2-1 away on Monday morning (AEST) in the Greek Super League’s fifth round.
The hosts went ahead in the 18th minute after Jorge Aguirre slotted his penalty into the back of the net.
The Greens kept fighting and eventually brought it level in the 57th minute, thanks to a goal from Tete, with the challenge of finding a second proving difficult.
Jeremejeff then turned up in the final minutes of the clash as he found the back of the net in the 90+5th minute, putting the “Trifylli” in front as they officially earned their maiden league win this term.
PAOK slipped again for the second week in a row, this time failing to preserve a two-goal lead as Asteras Tripolis fought their way to earn a comeback 3-3 draw against the Thessaloniki giants.
The hosting Arcadian outfit were first to score, thanks to a seventh minute strike by Federico Macheda, before PAOK took ascendency of the game with three unanswered goals.
The first arrived in the 21st minute when Kiril Despodov converted a penalty kick before Giannis Konstantelias put them in front five minutes later.
The visitors then earned another penalty with Fedor Chalov stepping up and slotting the ball into the net to make it 3-1 (34′).
Dimitrios Emmanouilidis put the Arcadians back in the contest before the break with a goal in the 45+2nd minute, and Nicholas Gioacchini eventually made it level again in the 74th minute.
Konstantinos Pomonis received a second yellow in the 90th minute, putting the home team at a disadvantage for the final minutes though they hung on to score an impressive point.
AEK earned a narrow 1-0 home success against Volos with Frantzdy Pierrot’s 54th minute goal proving the difference between the two clubs.
Kifisia scored a 3-1 away triumph over a ten-man OFI outfit to keep up their strong start to the season.
The visitors struck first in the 39th minute via Pavlos Pantelidis and the Cretans’ misery extended just four minutes later when Levan Shengelia was given a straight red.
Despite the disadvantage, OFI was first to score after the red card with Thanasis Androutsos levelling the contest in the 68th minute.
Kifisia eventually regained the lead in the 79th minute through Andrews Tetteh before Jorge Pombo put the result beyond doubt with a final goal in the 90+4th minute.
Olympiacos rescued a 3-2 home victory over Levadiakos on Sunday morning, with the two teams playing out a back-and-forth game that was settled by an injury time winner from Chiquinho.
The Piraeus side went ahead in the 43rd minute via a goal from captain Panagiotis Retsos before Sebastian Palacios made it 1-1 in the 58th minute.
Chiquinho restored their lead just two minutes later on the hour mark, though the “blue-greens” continued fighting and equalised once more in the 79th minute through Konstantinos Goumas.
The Portuguese midfielder stepped up once more for the hosts as he scored in the 90+6th minute to earn them the win and remain locked in first.
Aris stumbled against Panserraikos as they recorded a 1-1 draw at home, with Monchu’s 44th minute strike getting cancelled out by Andrei Ivan’s 50th minute header which forced the teams to split the points.
The remaining fixture of the round will see Atromitos host Larissa on Tuesday morning.
