The entire Heidelberg United organisation has taken this new Australian championship right to heart, and it’s showing on the pitch more than anywhere else.

The well-oiled football machine crafted by gaffer John Anastasiadis has downed another rival, doubling their wins in what’s shaping up to be a cracking tournament so far.

Wollongong Wolves never looked like they had the goods to upset the tried-and-true recipe for success that’s now second nature in the Heidelberg United kitchen.

The “yellow and black” laid down their marker from the off. Bossing possession, launching quick counters, and setting a tempo that few sides in the comp can live with. United’s class soon turned into goals.

In the 17th minute, the red-hot Jamal Ali this season slotted home the opener for 0-1, paving the way for his side to grab the three points.

The second came from the MVP of the first two rounds for Heidelberg—the unstoppable Anthony Lesiotis.

The Greek Aussie midfielder doubled the tally in the 49th minute, pretty much wrapping up the win. Angus Taylor’s strike for 0-3 in the 85th was the icing on the cake for a massive away victory by the boys from Heidelberg in Melbourne.

Next up for United is South Hobart.

The clash will be at the “yellow and black” home ground on Sunday 26 October at 1pm.
