On Thursday evening the Food For Thought Network (FFTN) will host a discussion with Nola Karapanagiotidis, barrister and passionate volunteer, on the topic of asylum seekers.
The event is part of the Speaking the Unspoken series, launched by the network with an aim to reduce the stigma surrounding controversial issues by providing safe spaces for women to have challenging discussions.
FFTN is an inclusive non-profit Greek women’s network created in 2001 that promotes mentoring and networking as a way of accelerating women’s performance and career prospects. The network hosts regular fundraising events and inspirational speakers.
There are more questions than answers when it comes to asylum seekers, and Nola will address some of those questions.
Nola practises in criminal law, human rights, and refugee law. She has volunteered with the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) for over 13 years, has extensive experience in working with women in the criminal justice system, and is a passionate advocate for social justice.
Anthea Sidiropoulos will entertain the audience beforehand.
