Mary Kantrantzou’s latest collection has hit the mark at this year’s London Fashion Week, noted by Vogue as one of the ten best on show.
The Athens-born designer showcased a playful and colourful Spring/Summer collection, with 40 different looks inspired by childhood, arts and crafts.
As a result she brought to the runway an explosion of bold colour and of course prints, for which the designer is renowned.
The collection featured oversized florals on dresses and skirts, polka dot skirt suits, bubble hem dresses and cropped sleeve jackets made of nylon.
But it wasn’t all about the prominent features, but the finer detail which included a total of 100,000 Swarovski crystals, along with hand-braided features made possible in part thanks to the help of a group of women in Kosovo, who were enlisted through the charity Women for Women International.
The popularity of Katrantzou’s designs has been on the rise in recent years, worn by high profile figures including the likes of US first lady Melania Trump, and actors Jessica Alba and Kerry Washington.
