Gymnast Lefteris Kosmidis, rower Alexandra Tsiavou and the water polo team of Vouliagmeni were honoured as the best Greek athletes in 2010 by the Panhellenic Association of Sports Press (PSAT) on Monday.
World champion in floor exercise Kosmidis, who also won the World Cup this year, got the highest number of votes from sport writers, beating judoka Ilias Iliadis and fellow gymnast Vlassis Maras.
European champion Tsiavou, who received the award for the second year in a row, finished just ahead of judoka Ioulietta Boukouvala and gymnast Vasso Milousi.
Vouliagmeni who won the Champions Cup and Europe’s Super Cup for the second year in succession got the most votes among all Greek teams, beating the men’s football team and the women’s basketball team of Athinaikos.
Vouliagmeni’s coach Alexia Kammenou was voted best coach of the year by sports journalists.
