On Sunday 4 June, the Greek Scout Group of Sydney celebrated their five year anniversary with their Annual Dinner Dance. The dance is also a celebration for the children who have decided to become youth members of the Greek Scouts.
Over 200 people attended the Annual Dinner Dance with three scout groups involved – the 6th Bankstown Greek Scouts Group, the 3rd Sutherland Greek Scouts Group and the Former Greek Scouts of Sydney. All scout groups raised over $10,000 through raffle tickets for the scout groups. The dance is a way to congratulate all the people involved in the Greek Scouts of Sydney and thank them for their excellent voluntary contribution and support throughout the years.
Scouts are one of the very few organisations where the emphasis is on the children and children only. The scouting movement sits alongside the work which the family, the school and the church does for our children, in their upbringing by educating and training, and providing the necessary knowledge and skills for children to become adults and face the future. Through games and hands on activities, learning is achieved with fun and joy.
These days, the Greek Scouts of Sydney are progressing strongly in numbers and activities. New scouts are enrolling, so they are seeking new leaders, to join their groups. Proper training will be provided by Scouts Australia, accompanied by a Parallel Greek Program endorsed by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. The Greek Scouts of Sydney wants you to come forward and become scout leaders if you can, and at the same time to bring your children and grandchildren to join the Greek Scouts of Sydney, either at Sutherland or Bankstown. That way they can supplement their education, knowledge and skills the scouting way.
