An article that appeared in last week’s Sunday Mail titled “The Shame of my Athens” has upset members of the Greek community in South Australia, Neos Kosmos has been told.
In the article, written by Australian journalist Amanda Dardanis, she describes her life as a Greek Australian living in Greece, and the current demise of the country due to the financial crisis.
She said the fault lay with the “selfish” and “deceitful” Greeks who bought this financial crisis on themselves.
Neos Kosmos was advised by members of the Greek community that the article was offensive and by no means a true representation of a country in crisis and felt the media were again misrepresenting the crisis and portraying it in a bad light.
