Cyprus Foreign Minister Erato Kozakou Marcoullis attended the Cypriot Community of Western Australia’s annual dinner and dance last week.
Speaking at the dance, Marcoullis underlined the difficulties of the Cyprus problem. As she spoke to the crowd that night, she said that Turkey questions the sovereign rights of Cyprus to conduct explorations and exploit its natural resources within its Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
Marcoullis spoke positively in regards to Cyprus in the Communique of the Commonwealth Heads of States and Government meeting held in Perth on 28 to 30 October, with the participation of 53 Commonwealth member states. She said the Heads of State and Government of the Commonwealth, reaffirmed the previous Commonwealth Communique on Cyprus and expressed their full support to the sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity and unity of the Republic of Cyprus.
The dinner dance is an annual event held for the Cypriot Community of Western Australia.
