“Santa’s coming! Make way!” That’s how last Saturday began for 12 youngsters with special needs in Brunswick, Victoria.

The kids, who are part of a regular Planned Activity Group run by the Australian Greek Welfare Society (AGWS), began yuletide celebrations early, and what a party it was! This year Santa was none other than Dimitri Soultana who attends the Group.

“It was Dimitri’s idea to don the red suit and bring presents to his pals,” said AGWS Aged and Disabilities Unit Manager Stelios Piakis.
Stelios told Neos Kosmos that witnessing the youngsters’ glee was priceless.
“Seeing them being so happy makes me think that the Christmas spirit is much stronger than I thought. Their smiles are the best Christmas present for me.”

AGWS runs culturally specific, age-appropriate Planned Activity Groups for young people with disabilities from Greek-Australian backgrounds. For more information call Chryssa on 9388 99 98.
In a statement provided to Neos Kosmos from the North Pole, Mr S. Klaus said that he thanked Dimitri for his help, and that Mr Klaus himself would be assuming his normal chimney duties on Christmas Eve.
