Gold Coast restaurants Hellenika and Miami Marketta are getting ready to put on a Greek feast this Sunday.

Hellenika owner Simon Gloftis will be closing the doors to his restaurant for one day, and bringing his staff to the Miami Marketta which will be transformed into a Greek wonderland of food, drink, and dancing.

“We’re putting the long tables down the middle of Marketta and people just rock up and sit where they want,” Gloftis told the Gold Coast Bulletin.

“And we’ll have live Greek music, so hopefully by the end of the lunch there will be a few people up and dancing.”

The menu will be the classic set menu patrons will know from Hellenika. While the quality of service will still be high end, Gloftis says the setting is sure to affect the mood, giving the event a lighthearted feel much like “a real Greek family lunch”, but it’s not really a metaphor given that his parents founded and own the popular venue.

“We all have our own projects going on. I’ve been meaning to do this for a while, given the family connection,” he said.

“I was going to do it while Hellenika was closed for renovations, but they’ve been pushed back so I thought, let’s do it anyway. It’ll be a great afternoon.”
