It wasn’t that long ago when we all wanted a HD TV. The magic “1080p” symbol made many weak at the knees whenever they went to a Harvey Norman or JB HiFi store.

Life didn’t get any better than having HD TV at home to watch the footy on a Friday night. Well now there’s a new technology making waves, and it won’t be long before we start seeing it Down Under. It seems TV makers have decided 1080p simply isn’t good enough anymore, so they have upped the stakes with a new ‘4k’ technology.

That’s a whopping 4 times better screen resolution than the current HD TV standard. Several vendors demonstrated the as-yet unofficial resolution technology at CES last month, with models starting to ship shortly.
