Tina Fey is set to return to the Saturday Night Live (SNL) stage, but this time as a host.

The Greek American actress will take centre stage for the 43rd season finale, set to air on 19 May, marking Fey’s sixth time hosting the show since her departure.

The 47-year-old was a head writer and cast member on SNL from 1997 to 2006. Since then she has been known for her hilarious cameo appearances.

It must be said that the role couldn’t have come at a better time for Fey who is in the running to set the record for most wins in the Emmy category for Best Comedy Guest Actress.

Currently the holder of two Emmys in the category, she coincidentally won them both based on appearances on SNL, the first in 2009 for her Sarah Palin impersonation, and in 2016 for co-hosting the show with Amy Poehler.

Fey currently has the second most nominations in the category, behind Cloris Leachman.

If she takes out the award in 2018, the 47-year-old will be the only actress with three wins in the category.
