A new reality series is set to be filmed in Greece, titled My Shirley Valentine Summer.

Set to feature eight well-known women whose identities have yet to be revealed, the series has been commissioned by ITV’s Jane Beacon and Clare Ely, the creators of the popular series Love Island, and will be produced by Twofour.

The four one-hour episodes will capture the experiences of the women, who will all be living together for the duration of the show, as they explore the Greek islands while rediscovering themselves, and maybe even find love.

“We can’t wait to take our brilliant cast of ‘Shirleys’ over to Greece,” said Twofour’s Creative Director, David Clews.

“Their summer in the sun will be a jam-packed experience – discovering new passions and rediscovering themselves as they get to grips with local life and the local dating scene. This is going to be a wonderfully warm, funny and heartfelt adventure. Hopefully with some romance too.”

The title and concept of the show are inspired by the 1989 romantic comedy Shirley Valentine, which is based on a stage play about a bored housewife who ventures to Greece to seek out new adventures.

The air date of My Shirley Valentine Summer has yet to be confirmed, but is expected sometime in 2018.
