The Lesvos island ‘Ouzo Fest’ has become one of the most well-attended events of its kind in Greece.

With high temperatures kicking in and arrivals on the northern Aegean island constantly increasing, the 2018 Ouzo Festival is set to begin on Friday and will culminate over the weekend.

The event is made possible by the Association of Distillers Lesvos in conjunction with the municipalities of Plomari and Mytilene.

Ouzo lovers will have the opportunity to taste over 40 brands on Friday and Saturday in the village where the most famous ouzo label originates from before the event moves to the capital where more festivities will take place on Sunday and Monday.

Several other smaller scale music and food events will also take place across the island under the Ouzo Fest umbrella.

Establishments in villages and towns will be offering ouzo from local producers alongside a variety of products and friendly to the aniseed distilled alcoholic drink mezethes.

Hundreds of guests attend the main events each day with overall attendance reaching the thousands.

If you are in Lesvos this weekend, this festival is one to remember.
