When it comes to IVF success, Greece is one of the countries leading the pack with women travelling the world over to get there and try their luck.

Among the recent success stories is Australian actress Tania Zaetta, who has announced that she is pregnant with twins.

The 48-year-old, who is known for her role as co-host on Australian game show Who Dares Wins, travelled to Greece with her partner, Chris Rodgers, 35, after their fruitless attempts to conceive naturally.

In an interview with Woman’s Day, Zaetta revealed she made the decision after reading about Greek Australian comedian, Mary Coustas’ fertility challenges and the joy she experienced giving birth to her daughter at 49 thanks to her IVF experience with Dr Nick Lolatgis.

Zaetta reached out to the IVF specialist in Greece, where she ventured with Rodgers five months ago. Referring to Dr Lolatgis as “the baby maker”, together they managed to find an anonymous egg donor, who resembled Zaetta, who is of Italian and Australian heritage.

Two eggs were implanted using IVF, and the couple experienced success the first round.

Zaetta and Rodgers, who have been together for five years, started trying for a baby three years ago, when the actress was 45.

“I drove home in tears to Chris and he was just so beautiful and supportive,” she told Woman’s Day.

“It’s very confronting when you hear the number and quality of your eggs is quite low at 45.
“But there were so many women claiming miracle babies at 45, I just thought it would happen quite easily.”

While this wasn’t the case for her, Zaetta is now over the moon with the news they are expecting twins, and is giving hope to women who find themselves in a similar boat.

“To be able to have an egg donor baby, that’s the miracle to me.”
