The famous Greek-American TV host legally tied the knot with her partner for 19 years Keven Undergaro, in a surprise ceremony in New York City’s Times Square on New Year’s Eve following her surgery after she was diagnosed with brain-tumour.

Even though they have technically been married, for Maria, who is very connected to her Greek heritage and a devoted Christian, the union won’t be complete unless she has her dream wedding in a church.

“I really truly believe that it’s taken us this long [to get married] because of the pressures of putting a wedding together,” Menounos told People Magazine explaining that the entire family and her close environment was under too much stress as when she was diagnosed, her mother Litsa has already been battling her won brain-cancer for two years.

“I’ve always wanted it to be super intimate and even though this is the opposite, we can only invite our immediate family, so the pressure of who to invite is gone. This was just so perfect.”

She and Keven plan to celebrate their wedding again in a church on a cliff at the birth place of her father Constantine in order to enjoy the event in the presence of their loved ones.

The chapel is located in a village called Akovos, near Megalopolis in Mesinia and was built thanks to Menounos’ father’s donation.

The couple is yet to come up with a date as both the celebrity and her mother are still in recovery.
