Australia’s favourite gardener Costa Georgiadis came dressed to the Logie Awards ceremony wearing garden themed attire. And the man with the green thumb didn’t win the Gold Logie but he did take home his own pot of gold as Australia’s Most Popular Presenter.

He snagged the prize though he was up against some of Australia’s most popular hosts, including Amanda Keller, Carrie Bickmore and Waleed Aly. His journey to the top happened out of the blue, pretty much like his Logie win.

“A phone  call came to me from a production company back in the mid 2000s saying they were looking for a presenter to host a garden show,” he said.

Accepting his prize, he said: “With an incredible team of people I’ve been fortunate enough to travel the country and meet people doing positive things.”

He sang praises for his team, and outlined his plans for the Logie trophy. “It’s not collecting dust. I want it sitting on compost bins. I want it in community gardens. I want it going everywhere. This is for you,” he said, before summing up his incredible experience as host of Gardening Australia in one word – “Unbelievable.”

Gardening Australia also picked up the most popular lifestyle program.

The big prize of the evening went to comedian Tom Gleeson, who was rewarded the evening’s highest honour – the Gold Logie for most popular personality on TV.
