After a short international break for the Euro 2020 and World Cup qualifiers, Greek Super League One is back on track this weekend.

One of the teams that has stood out this season is Xanthi, managing to stay in second place after six games so far with five wins and only a single loss.

Spanish manager Kiko Ramirez seems to be doing an excellent job with the Akrites, a team performing admirably in these first opening rounds especially during the (controversial) away win against Panathinaikos. It is still early days in the season, and they will need to show consistency in order to remain at the top of the ladder.

The next challenge will require them to take on Aris at the Xanthi Arena with visitors entering a new era under German manager Michael Oenning, 54. Coming from the Bundesliga, and having coached teams of the calibre of Hamburger and Nurnberg, he will help improve the situation though the immediacy of his effect remains to be seen.

Elsewhere, AEK will want to bounce back after dropping two points in Larissa with a win at the Olympic Stadium against newcomers Volos.

Yet the visiting side have already proven that they can put up a tough contest for almost any team, their only bleak spot in the competition so far being a 5-0 away loss at the hands of Olympiacos.

Nikos Kostenoglou’s men will be looking for a dominant display against the team from Central Greece.

Meanwhile, just a few short days away before their clash with one of the greatest franchises the world of football has to offer, Bayern Munich, Olympiacos will be looking for a good result to boost their morale against OFI.

The team from Crete is not to be trifled with if their recent results are anything to go by, as they already hold the greatest offensive record in the league (14 goals so far).

PAOK will be looking to add another three points against Lamia at Toumba while Atromitos welcome PAOK.
