Michael Panayides, the man responsible for the death of Dutch cyclist Gritta Scheenhouwer, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison.

The 28-year-old was driving a stolen car at high speeds just hours after taking drugs when he crashed into two parked cars and Ms Scheenhouwer while trying to overtake another car on Chapel Street in South Yarra.

Ms Scheenhouwer, a 27-year-old graduate architect in Australia on a working holiday, was riding in the bicycle lane on her way to work.
