The Greek Community of Melbourne gave awards to the top VCE scorers in the subjects of Modern and Ancient Greek during an event at the Greek Centre in December.

Students, teachers and parents gathered to congratulate high achievers during a presentation by Tammy Iliou, Vice-President of the Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM).

GCM President Bill Papastergiadis congratulated the students who achieved excellence and thanked the school’s educators for their offerings.

Theodoros Markos, Vice President of the GCM, expressed his support for keeping the language strong and pleasure at managing to keep the Greek program operating at Coburg West Primary School.

Students given awards at the ceremony were Georgia-Anastasia Vlahos of South Oakleigh SC and Artemis Moschoudis of Oakleigh Grammar both received a top score of 50/50, whereas students from the Greek Community which received 40+ were Dionysos Papadopoulos (Strathmore S.C.)

Alexandros Karalis of Xavier College received an award for his high results in Ancient Greek, achieving the top mark in all of Victoria, whereas Georgia Salma, Eftyhia Thanopoulou and Chrysothemi Ioannou received the highest grades at the Greek Community of Melbourne.

Along with the awards, students received a token monetary prize.
