As Australians and people around the world wake up day after day to horrendous images of fires burning in Victoria and NSW, feelings of helplessness are inevitable.

As the fires continue, to date over six million hectares of land have been burnt, devastating the population and causing injury, loss of life, and the death of native flora and fauna.

While summer brings with it a threat of fire, experts have said that the scale has never been seen before.

As politicians continue to come under fire for their inadequate response and lack of empathy, the acts of philanthropy by the general population have reinstated some hope in this nightmare, donating goods, as well as funds.

Among the notable efforts is that of Australian comedian Celeste Barber, who has used her fame for good, launching an online fundraiser that has so far raised over $33 million in just three days.

The Victorian Bushfire Appeal has raised $2 million in just a few days, and the state government plans on matching the amount raised.

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has urged people wanting to help, to refrain from donating anymore goods, stating that emergency relief organisations have been inundated and don’t have space to sort or store donations, instead urging those who are able to donate money.

“If you want to help, please consider donating to the Victorian Bushfire Appeal. All money raised will go towards immediate support for those who have lost everything,” Mr Andrews urged on Facebook.

For those wishing to donate, we have compiled a list of appeals below:
