Greek Australian Home and Away star Zoe Ventoura, who plays Alex on the show, had one of her scenes, involving a lesbian kiss, cut out from the show.
The scene was cut late last year from Australian television but was screened in New Zealand.
Alex and Willow, who started dating on the show last year, had a kiss in the park edited from the show.
Zoe Ventoura and Sarah Roberts, who play Alex and Willow, addressed the issue on Twitter. They wrote: “Please know that every scene was written, performed and shot with the utmost love and respect for the characters, the relationship and the community.”
Former Neighbours actor Daniel MacPherson, Ventoura’s husband, retweeted posts that were critical of the cuts. He wrote: “What a shame for viewers so excited to see themselves represented in a wonderful relationship on TV.”
