The Greek Archdiocese of Australia has announced a change to the memorial service plans for the late Archbishop Stylianos of Australia that will take place on Saturday, 21 March. The cancellation of the memorial lunch, was due to the latest measures announced to combat the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

The luncheon which was to have followed the service has been cancelled while the service itself will still go ahead as planned at the Cathedral of the Annunciation in Sydney. Archbishop Makarios of Australia will preside at the divine liturgy while Metropolitan Seraphim of Sevastia will deliver the memorial address.

An archdiocese statement said the decision to cancel the lunch after the service was made in the consultation with the late Archbishop’s relatives in Sydney and with Professor Sprios Miyakis, the acting director of Infectious Diseases at Wollongong Hospital.

The Trisagion Service at the cemetery will go ahead and will be conducted by Archbishop Makarios with just the late hierarch’s close family and friends in attendance.
