I must say I am a little bit confused. The prime minister is ordering all backpackers who can’t support themselves financially to leave the country, while on the other hand the farmers beg them to stay.

How can it be that those two can’t communicate properly? How can it be that nobody has a plan for a situation like this, when he allows thousands of people to enter the country, a country that is for most people days away from home and a lot of money away from comfort. I speak like this because Australia is recognised across the world as one of the greatest countries. I guess even the greatest ones have issues.

Most backpackers live in Hostels where they use the same toilets and kitchens as everyone in the building, but still when they sit in the lounge area it is dangerous and forbidden! They are being called out on media and the news because they are being reckless, they are being expected to stay in their rooms and wait. Wait for what? Nothing is happening. Nobody is there for them to give them a way out, a solution to this situation that would help them deal with it in a healthy way.
Most of those people had their dreams shuttered. Their Dreams of seeing this wonderful country and making memories that would last a lifetime.

Does anyone give them a second chance of coming back if they go home now? NO

Would you give up on a dream that you worked for the past year? NO

I assure you that if the government would tell all those people here that they can come back again for another year when all this is over, they would all gladly go home. Or at least most of them. Now, the ones that left feel bad and the ones that are still here struggle.

I myself have decided to stay here and fight this out. I follow the rules and try my best to survive. We were kicked out from our previous apartment in mid of all this craziness. Something that was not very thoughtful by the owner given the circumstances. I will not complain because I know and I accept that I am the lowest individual in the food chain at the moment, I know I have to struggle and find a way to survive. My dream is worth it and I am grateful to be in a great country like Australia that is taking the measures needed to keep everyone safe.

This will eventually be over and normal life will begin again.

I would like to tell all the backpackers out there who have decided to stay here to be patient and seek help where it’s given!

And there is a lot of help. Australians are great hosts and they do what they can to help those with the desire to see this uniquely beautiful country.

We are all in this together, and only together we can come out of it.
