A teleconference on the implementation of the Athens city urban restructuring plan was held on Monday at the Municipality of Athens. The plan provides for a 6.8km-long pedestrian walkway which includes the Athens historical centre around Plaka.

National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) professor George Yannis presented the plan to the Athens Municipal Councillors. He showcased 50,000 sq metres of free public space which will be made accessible to citizens and visitors upon completion of the project as well as a new bike lane on Panepistimiou Street as well as the historical areas of Plaka and the Commercial Triangle. The development includes the areas of Herodu Attikou, whereas Mitropoleos, Athinas and the rest of Ermou streets will be converted into car-free zones.
