The Australian Government is offering fact sheets, available in 63 languages, to multicultural business owners in order to support them in safely re-opening.
Australia’s Acting Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs Alan Tudge said keeping business informed would be critical as we open up the economy. “One-third of Australian small businesses are run by migrants and we want to see their businesses safely re-opening and their staff safely back at work,” Mr Tudge said.
“We’ve got to get our economy moving again, but we all need to play our part to make sure we limit the spread of the virus and prevent future outbreaks.
“The information will help business owners keep themselves, their staff and customers safe when they open.
Australia’s Minister for Employment, Skills, Small and Family Business Michaelia Cash said the Government would continue to support Australian business as they emerge from coronavirus lockdowns.
“As the economy starts to reopen, it is now critical that operators think about how their businesses will run under the new social distancing requirements,” Senator Cash said.
As restrictions are lifted, operators are encouraged to:
- Prepare plans so employees and customers know what to expect on a day-to-day basis and what to do in the event of a COVID-19 incident.
- Develop workplace and business models to prevent the spread of COVID-19. This should include appropriate physical distancing and hygiene measures.
- Prepare plans to respond to an incident involving an infected staff member or customer.]
- Prepare plans and protocols to recover after incidents including increased cleaning and testing.
