Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison gave states and territories the green light to lift the 100-person cap on gatherings in July, if they choose to take the final step of the National Cabinet’s three step process to open up the economy.

Social distancing will be kept with a four square metre rule to be imposed for sporting and cultural events, and weddings and funerals.Stadiums with a capacity of 40,000 will be permitted to move to a 25 per cent capacity for ticketed events, Mr Morrison said. Night clubs and music festivals will remain shut and Mr Morrison warned people not to attend protests this weekend.

The National Cabinet also discussed the re-admission of international students.States and territories were working on a pilot that would enable international students to return to Australia in a “controlled setting”, however nothing has been decided for certain as yet.
No announcements were made regarding international travel.
