Coronavirus worries have prompted Australian tennis stars Nick Kyrgios and Ash Barty to withdraw from the US Open.
Kyrgios will not be appearing at the French Open either and said there is “slim to no chance” of him competing overseas for the rest of the year.
Defending US Open champion Rafael Nadal also pulled out of the tournament.

Kyrgios noted he was not surprised a number of stars had chosen to skip this year.
“I wasn’t surprised by Rafa’s decision; I think he’s more eyeing the French Open,” the world No.40 told Nine.
While the rescheduled French Open might see Nadal in October, Kyrgios although staying away said he would choose Europe over the United States.
“If I was to play I’d definitely rather go to Europe at this time of the year with everything going on,” Kyrgios said.

In the meantime, Kyrgios is making sure to spend time with loved ones and avoid the virus.
“I’m going to use this time to stay at home … train, be with my family and friends and act responsibly and wait until I think it’s best,” he said.
