Former reality TV Family Food Fight contestant Fanos Panayides, 38, was arrested by police during a search warrant on Tuesday morning.

Police seized his mobile phone and laptop, and he was taken into custody before being released later in the day.

Mr Panayides had been amongst those heavily promoting Saturday’s “freedom day” event encouraging 500,000 people to march at Melbourne’s Shrine of Remembrance to show their opposition against Melbourne’s Lockdown laws.

In a Facebook rant on Saturday, Mr Panayides said he would go to the Shrine of Remembrance and stand there “on (his)  own”.

“This is bigger than everybody,” he told his 27,000 Facebook followers.

He was bailed and will face Melbourne Magistrates Court in February 2021 together with a Coburg man, 28, charged with incitement.

This is the second time Mr Panayides has been arrested this year, having also been detained by police after anti-lockdown protests outside Parliament House in May.

“A lot of people are concerned about what is going on (regarding COVID-19). Something is not right. I did not know half of the people that were there. I was not carrying any slogans or banners nor was I wearing any clothing with slogans,” Mr Panyides had told Neos Kosmos following his first arrest.

“I did not know who would speak or what about. People wanted me to speak and I put a lot on the line to speak out.”
