The world’s most preeminent coffee competition, for the World’s Best Barista and Best Brewer, finished on Sunday, with Greek mission taking home the 11th and 14th ranking respectively.
Thanasis Nikolis, who competed for the title of Best Barista with contestants from 52 countries, finished the competition as 11th World’s Best Barista.
Peter Licata from Kansas City was crowned World Barista Champion 2013, while Melbourne’s own Matt Perger took second place for the hosts.
United States were crowned in The World Brewers Cup as well, with Erin McCarthy winning the competition. Greece’s top brewer, Alexandros Foukis, came 14th.
The Melbourne International Coffee Expo, that hosted the competitions at the Melbourne Showgrounds last week, drew in more than 10,000 people over four days and more than 150 exhibitors.
