‘Medea’ weather front blows snowy days through Greece

Social media was filled with snow photos from Greece, first recorded on Monday night in the regions of Attica, Evia, the Cycladic islands and Crete.

The beauty of antiquities blanketed in snow was offset by problems to the traffic in many parts of the road network which will continue until Wednesday morning (local time), according to latest data of Athens National Observatory’s meteo service, meteo.gr.

Gale force winds prevailed in the Aegean overnight but will gradually subside to below 7 on the Beaufort scale with exception of the islands of the Dodecanese in the east Aegean that will reach 9 on the Beaufort scale.

Sub-zero conditions will continue as the ‘Medea’ weather front passes through Greece.
