There’s something about Spring that puts me in a good mood. Maybe it’s that extra sunshine that peaks out from behind the grey clouds more and more every time I go for my lunch break walk.

It’s also that time of year when you have an excuse to wear colourful make-up, floral dresses and bright colours.

But unless you’ve been blessed with naturally bronzed skin and have kept up your beauty routine over winter, you might not exactly look like a hot Spring ‘chickie babe’.

Enthusiasm just takes a nose dive as I peak at my lily white legs and am grateful that it’s still cold enough to wear tights!

Sure some people look great pale, ala Scarlett Johansson, but not everyone can work it. So I thought I’d gather a few tips to boost your confidence and help make your transition into spring a little smoother.

Shave, wax, laser, or do whatever it takes to banish those hairy winter legs! And that goes for any other not so smooth parts-snail trail, underarms, arms, need I say more? It’s all too easy to get slack over winter but just get it out of the way and think of how fabulous and smooth you’ll feel after.

Go Brazilian. You needn’t go all off. There’s the option of a strip, or even a Sicilian, where everything is whipped off underneath but you are left with a neat little triangle on top.

If you really want to celebrate the Spring season, try a love heart or flower shape!

For those who prefer al natural, at least have a bikini line done, unless you want to be totally embarrassed when you spontaneously decide to go to the swimming pool and suddenly realise that you and the old lady in the spa have so much more in common than previously thought!

Exfoliate away that dry, winter skin at least twice weekly with a gentle scrub and slather on a creamy moisturiser or body butter every night. Your skin will thank you for it!

Faux it; Yes I know fake tan feels icky to apply but I always feel fabulous and summery when I look sunkissed. If you do decide to go faux, don’t over apply. There is nothing worse than looking a bad shade of tandoori ala Jordan.

Fix your feet. This season’s stilettos will put your feet back in the spotlight so it might be smart to have a pedicure or at least trim and file your toe nails. Yellow, partially painted toenails just look gross. Finish with a hot spring shade of nail polish like pink or purple.

Feeling the winter blues? Pick yourself up with a new pink lippie, this season’s must have shade of lipstick. Ah the cheap thrills of retail therapy!

Flower gazing. Finally unless you have hay fever, pick a pretty flower and enjoy its fragrance and beauty. I love those little pink flowers that start blooming around now- I think they’re called cherry blossoms.
