The Greek police has confirmed, according to a Herald Sun report which was published two Sundays ago, that is investigating claims by Victorian MP Theo Theophanous that he was the target of a conspiracy.

The claims relate to the charge that was brought against Mr Theophanous on December 24 last year that he allegedly raped a woman more than ten years ago in his Parliament office. The woman now lives permanently in Greece.

A Greek senior police officer confirmed to the Herald Sun that they were looking into a number of issues that the Greek Australian MP had complained about.

Mr Theophanous has resigned from his ministerial portfolios but holds his seat in Parliament.
