Just five days before Greece introduces strict regulations cracking down on smoking in public spaces in line with European Union law, Health Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos announced last minute exemptions for offices and casinos.

All offices employing more than 50 people will have the right to maintain rooms for smoking according to Avaramopoulos.

Smaller business with fewer than 50 workers will be required to ban smoking on their premises.

Casinos have a temporary stay from smoking restrictions, they meet with officials from the Ministries of the Economy and Tourism to determine what regulations they will need to follow.

The minister noted that live music venues larger than 400 metres square will be able to employ a two metre glass “wall” to separate smokers from nonsmokers rather than have to construct a stand alone space for smokers.
